Porta Soprana & Casa di Colombo
The medieval gate & Columbusâs house
Porta Soprana is one of Genovaâs best-preserved medieval gates, built in 1155, near Piazza Dante. Beside it stands the small house traditionally said to be Christopher Columbusâs boyhood home, along with the cloister of SantâAndrea.
Itâs a short but atmospheric stop, easy to fold into a walk toward the centre. (Historians debate how genuine the Columbus link is â but the charm holds.)
